Climate Action Hui 2009

Thinking Ahead - What sort of legacy will we feel proud to hand on

Climate Action Hui 2009

Hikurangi saw a crucial need for like-minded non-government groups to learn from experts, share inspiration, and form connections. Participants gained a sense of urgency about climate change action and more importantly they said, a single word formed the strongest idea – hope! Expert speakers included David Wratt, NIWA; Ralph Chapman, Victoria University; Sean Weaver, Carbon Partnerships; Nick Jones, on public opinion and business; and Bill McKibben, US climate scientist.

The Hui catalysed and contributed to the success of many follow-up actions including wider participation in 350 also inspired Hikurangi to inspire many individuals to rework their strategies and look for real, immediate ways to take action on climate change, through the vital contribution of Community Climate Action Hubs.
