Household Energy Meter Loan Scheme

Hikurangi and the Tauranga Environment Centre (TEC) aimed to find out how loaning home energy meters for free, with good information and advice, can help householders better understand their home appliance energy usage and achieve power bill savings. Overseas trials have estimated savings of 5-15% on household energy bills with the use of in house energy meters, demonstrating how the simple act of measuring something, can be enough to encourage a behaviour change.  This pilot was the first of its kind in New Zealand.
