How green is New Zealand giving?
Helping find out how much green giving there is in New Zealand
This project set out to research and analyse the quantity and quality of environment and climate change related giving in New Zealand. Are NZ grant makers realising the benefits of action on climate change?
The survey revealed that the environment sector receives less than 3% of all annual philanthropic grants – despite the importance to our national welbeing. Also, overall climate change-explicit funding accounts for less than 1.6% of all philanthropic funding. The survey was created by Hikurangi, ASB Community Trust and Saints Information and has established a benchmark allowing year on year comparison, including overseas comparisons.
The survey of Philanthropists in New Zealand is now published: Green Grants Research Report.
