Thinking Ahead - What sort of legacy will we feel proud to hand on

A Sunday Drive

The Gannet Colony at Cape Kidnappers, Napier

The Hikurangi Foundation teamed up with Venture Hawke’s Bay, Hawke’s Bay Wine Country Tourism Association and Hawke’s Bay Regional Council to create an opportunity for Hawke’s Bay people to experience local tourism attractions via low carbon transport.

This project was about giving Hawke’s Bay people the opportunity to explore what is in their backyard, to experience local activities that they might normally drive past and to see Hawke’s Bay with a fresh set of eyes.

Following in the footsteps of the Kapiti Day Out, this pilot study showcases the ways in which a lower carbon approach (using enviro-rated transport and involving tourism operators) can provide multiple benefits to the Hawke’s Bay community, tourism business owners and visitors in the future.

Project Date- 2009

Project Grant- $9,000
