We work with social entrepreneurs and enterprises throughout New Zealand to understand what their goals are, map a pathway to scale and identify a clear exit point, where the venture has become:
- investable
- self sustaining through an enterprise model, or
- adopted as a core practice or model within existing organisations and institutions
To reach this point, we provide:
- Strategic funding – flexible funding to cover critical start-up and expansion costs. This can include salaries, capital expenditure, capacity development and activities that will unlock additional funding.
- Direct management support – hands-on support and guidance to develop our ventures. We also broker new partnerships and opportunities for the ventures we work with.
- Professional services – our trusted network of Compass Network partners provide specialist expertise and pro-bono support to our ventures.
While we’re working with a venture, we measure results and review progress against clear milestones for core activities, organisational development and social and environmental impact.
We also share learning, disseminate models for replication and build momentum for the innovation demonstrated through our ventures.
Some of the ways we do this include:
- Case studies
- Public events
- Targeted workshops
- Briefings and consultations
- Facilitation and communication with our network of engaged partners and supporters
We aim to develop and manage a balanced portfolio with a mixture of focus areas, sectors, development stages, levels of risk and geographical spread.
